About Chef Joseph "Joe" Sir
Chef Joseph "Joe" Sir was a pioneering figure in culinary apprenticeship and professional education in the Pacific Northwest. His lifetime commitment to training programs and workforce development fundamentally shaped the region's culinary education landscape.
As an Executive Chef and dedicated culinary instructor, Chef Sir served on the Seattle Culinary Joint Apprentice Committee, where he worked tirelessly to create pathways for aspiring chefs to gain hands-on experience while learning from established professionals. His visionary leadership led to the development and establishment of the WSCA Apprenticeship Program—an initiative that continues to provide "work and learn" opportunities for culinary professionals to this day.
Chef Sir's exceptional contributions to the culinary profession and education were recognized with the prestigious Washington State Chef of the Year Award. Through his mentorship and advocacy for apprenticeship-based learning, Chef Sir left an enduring legacy that continues to benefit culinary students and working professionals across Washington State.
